Global Communications Strategist with Flair for Authentic Storytelling
Christian Koenig is an internationally recognized communications strategist who advises C-suite leaders on authentic messaging, high-impact storytelling, and reputation management.
International Corporate and Media Expertise
For more than 20 years, Christian has prepared executives around the world for high-stakes media engagements, overseeing more than 1,600 interviews with leading global outlets including Bloomberg, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, ARD, Agence France-Presse, Xinhua News Agency, and Yomiuri Shimbun.
Christian has held senior leadership roles with global brands including Porsche and ThyssenKrupp. As Vice President of Public Relations at Porsche Cars North America, he led nationwide media activities surrounding the launch of the Taycan, Porsche’s first all-electric sports car, and directed product communications for the legendary 911 model line. Recognizing the opportunity to introduce the brand to younger audiences, he spearheaded initiatives to organically integrate Porsche cars into major Hollywood film and television productions.
Before founding KOENIG Communications in 2013, Christian served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for ThyssenKrupp, overseeing media relations, government affairs, crisis communications, and internal communications across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Earlier, as Chief Communications Officer for the company’s U.S. operations, he established its Washington, D.C. office and led communications during the site selection process for what was then the largest foreign direct investment project in the United States — a $5 billion manufacturing facility spanning 3,700 acres.

His expertise in international investment, economic development, and workforce initiatives has made him a trusted advisor to presidential administrations, members of Congress, state governments, and diplomatic leaders in Washington, D.C.
In 2022, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce appointed Christian to the United States Investment Advisory Council, a select group of business leaders advising the Department of Commerce on strategies to attract and retain foreign direct investment in the United States.
Christian began his career at Shell Germany, where he co-developed the company’s issues management system. Earlier, he served as chief of staff to a member of the German Parliament and as a research analyst for BusinessWeek.
Prior to attending university, Christian served in Germany’s First Airborne Division as a deputy platoon leader. He holds a master’s degree in political science, history, and constitutional law from the University of Bonn.
